Welcome to the Laboratoire d'Optique Biomedicale

The LOB projects are focused on optical functional imaging methods for applications in the life sciences and medicine.

Current topics of interest are:

• Single molecule detection and imaging with enhanced confinement applied to biofunctional studies & membrane signalling.
• Microscopy towards high lateral resolution and nonlinear microscopy for cell and tissue imaging.
• Optical Coherence Tomography and Laser Doppler Imaging with various medical applications as diabetes, neurosurgery etc.

These application-oriented projects in interdisciplinary areas of photonics, medicine and life sciences are integrated in national and international research collaborations within academia and industry.

An essential part of our efforts is devoted to teaching and education in micro-engineering and life sciences. Our laboratory participates in postgraduate courses in Applied Photonics and a master course in microscopy. This lecturing is complemented by several diploma and semester projects during the academic calendar. In addition, our laboratory participates in offering graduate level courses in Biomicroscopy and in Optical Design Methods. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
